Born in Izmir, Turkey, I have grown up eating mostly Aegean Cuisine and seafood. The home cooked food has always been delicious yet nutritious. Since all those meals were prepared by my parents, I’ve never been interested in how they were cooked but have only shown interest in eating them. At least only till I went away for the University…

To achieve a proper mental and physical state one must adjust their diet accordingly. Initially I spent time on developing the taste of my dishes with the proper cooking techniques. Later on, I started working on the art of plating. Instead of cooking the already available recipes, one can achieve much better results when one cooks experimentally. It boosts the creativity while providing more pleasure.

“Bekar Evi” means “Bachelor House/Pad” in Turkish. A common stereotype for students or bachelors living alone and mostly on junk food, pasta etc. It all started out with me sharing some plates on my personal Instagram account with that hashtag. In the beginning those were some ordinary ones as the stereotype suggests. However as I kept on improving I also kept on using that hashtag which started to become kind of ironic.

As the number of dishes increased I’ve setup up a new Instagram account specifically for them and named it #bekarevi.

Limited edition prints of my culinary art photography are available for purchase.
